Articulture
10am — 6pm (Mon—Fri)
10am — 4pm (Sat/Sun)
Brings together a small but diverse group of works that explore, comment on and celebrate the act of gardening and its associated horticultural experiences. The makers represented share a belief that the handling and forming of materials is a fundamental element of the creative process. Obvious parallel experiences exist in the gardening world, not least an aspiration to appropriate and fashion materials in imaginative ways. And so in retrospect, the exhibited works constitute a fitting tribute to the end of the "gardening year".

It may come in useful
"My efforts are not horticultural but an intuitive response to horticulturalist experiences. If however the works are mistaken for something Bob Flowerdew could have produced, then I will have successfully 'cross pollinated' and done something horticultural".
Handlings
"Handlings" highlight that moment when the earth gives up its hold on the things we planted so long ago. When the time comes we may be amazed or disappointed but we will always be surprised.

Floral Wheelbarrow, 2013
"The Floral Wheelbarrow is one of a series of sculptural works which explore new applications for unwanted industrial products". Thousands of seductive, hand-made flowers were found in the yard of a redundant Staffordshire china factory.

Glizzet 2013
A monument to the humble worm, a ceaseless worker in the garden's fragile ecosystem. A fascinating creature to most children, the worm fades towards invisibility as childhood is left behind. Yet resurfacing on rainy days, during seasonal digs and, in the beaks of blackbirds, the earthworm is also an invitation to re-connect to the adventure's imagination inherent in all of us.
