Conflict and Compassion

Asia Triennial Manchester 2014 (ATM14), the only Asian Art Triennial outside the Asia Pacific region, opens 26 September to 23 November 2014 in Manchester, UK, with a vibrant and exciting showcase of the foremost contemporary visual art from across the globe, featuring over 50 artists from 12 countries across 14 venues.

A major initiative of MIRIAD, Manchester School of Art at Manchester Metropolitan University,Asia Triennial Manchester 2014 is an international festival of visual culture that features a series of powerful exhibitions, commissions, and creative interventions by international and UK artists.

Developed in partnership with, and sited at, IWM North and multiple venues across the City and neighbouring boroughs, the Triennial explores the theme of Conflict & Compassion. It will present new site-specific work alongside existing pieces not seen before in the UK, and will challenge stereotypical viewpoints of contemporary Asian artistic practice.

The ATM14 exhibitions will be enhanced by a series of events and talks, a learning and participation programme, a symposium, and a distinctive Asian business event.

This interdisciplinary event, will focus on the Creative Design & Digital sector; promoting Manchester’s ambition to become one of the world’s leading digital cities.
