Mesmerised by Rosie Booth

Mon to Sat 10am – 5.30pm
Sundays 11am – 5pm (Cafe and selected studios only)

Mesmerising patterns take centre stage in this showcase of works in paper and aluminium by Rosie Booth, winner of Manchester Craft & Design Centre's 9th annual MMU Graduate Solo Exhibition Award.

On closer inspection these mesmerising patterns are in fact swarms of tiny holes, created through a slow and meditative process done entirely by hand.

Rosie says, "Each mark is made intuitively, in response to the one made before it. Every drawing represents an altered state of mind, a hypnotic state that I go into when I begin each piece."

Rosie is influenced by nature, growth and ideas about meditations, distractions and craftsmanship. Her method is very repetitive and detailed, and requires hours of commitment and effort.

Rosie was awarded the prize for her BA (Hons) Textiles in Practice degree show work in June 2014. The Manchester Craft & Design Centre were drawn to the way that Rosie's work used intricate patterns to play with natural and artificial light sources.

This exhibition will also showcase a selection of Rosie's ink drawings.

Admission Free.

The launch event on 14 May 6-9pm is part of Manchester After Hours.
