Embroidered Canvas Workshop

Priscilla Jones is an international artist that explores mixed media in her textile practice - she has been teaching for 19 years in Higher Education and delivers many workshops and courses to all levels of ability including the less experienced with a passion for textiles and those you have already developed skills and what to progress with their own practice.

To create your embroidered canvas Priscilla will share her vast knowledge of working with and altering a variety of materials including cotton, linen, synthetic fabrics, lace, haberdashery and ephemera. You will then experiment with acrylic paints applying the media to your fabrics with brushes and printing blocks to produce a range of different grounds that can be collaged onto your canvas. Priscilla will then take you step by step through the process of selecting the right fabrics from your painted collection through to putting your design together and selecting the best threads to stitch with. Using free machine embroidery techniques you will assemble your idea onto a canvas creating a piece that is personal to you and reflects your own ideas.

This is fantastic workshop for anyone who would like to explore a mixed media approach to stitched textiles and develop ideas in their own work or for teachers who wish to learn new and exciting techniques that can be integrated into the delivery of their own projects and briefs.

This workshop is for adults only. We also run Summer Schools for Young People.

Course Fee £40 - All materials are provided.
