Exhibition, Open Studios and Workshops

MADE AT MARKETPLACE is a collective platform for the artists, designers and makers currently working in Marketplace Studios. This coming weekend the 10-11 December will see a launch of recent work in our gallery shop, with a range of high quality pieces available to buy, alongside developing creative projects, representing the array of approaches present in our studio community. The exhibition will run until 5 January 2017.

Alongside the exhibition will be our weekend OPEN STUDIO event. Our doors will be open to the public to explore the building, studios and chat with our artists. There will also be DROP-IN AND MAKE workshops by some of our artists in their studio spaces including Headband-making and Hat-customising sessions, so bring your old hats along! Workshops are between 12-2pm on both days. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to visit the local independent businesses, old market and Stockport’s Hat Work Museum which is only down the road!

About Marketplace Studios

Marketplace Studios is an exciting initiative providing start-up business support to creative graduates from Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University. A three-storey building set in the heart of Stockport’s Market Square in the historic Old Town is used as a platform for sharing and development. We have two floors of incubation studio space for our graduate practitioners, who receive business support and creative industry skills to help them succeed in their new enterprises. On the ground floor, we have our gallery shop and workshop spaces for freelance artists to run workshops and courses for the general public.
