Lizzie Rose is a printed textile designer, specialising in surface pattern for the interiors and homeware market. During her time on the MA she has explored new ways in which surface pattern can be used and applied to products that are more inclusive of those with physical disabilities. Through experimentation with new technologies she has applied them to her designs in an effort to showcase the possibilities for inclusive design in the future.

Through collaboration with a visual impairment charity, Henshaws, Lizzie Rose has produced a range of sensory patterns that are to be explored through multiple senses. The range is designed to not only show future possibilities for surface pattern but to raise awareness of the importance in designing for inclusivity. The work is designed to give the audience a sense of the difficulties faced by those with visual impairments, through forcing the viewer to interact with the designs in order to understand them.

The theme of her work focuses on the natural environment, building upon her own photography taken from British country gardens. Lizzie rose builds upon lines and shapes found within nature, accentuating their natural growth through her illustrative drawing style. It is her passion for 18th century textiles that has continuously fed into her practice, believing that current pattern design needs to offer the same sophistication and attention to detail in order to be able to offer an alternative to mass-produced products.

Building upon the collection, developed during her time on the MA, Lizzie Rose intends to further investigate ways that the methods discovered could be used for commercial application within the interior market.
