Marie Young

Kochi Kochi

Kochi Kochi is Japanese slang for Kochirae and translates in English as a polite way of saying "This way!" or "Over here!"

Inspired by this after many trips to Tokyo, it became a fitting moniker to sum up the work and style of Marie Young. Since graduating from Liverpool School of Art & Design in 2006, Marie has produced work for a wide range of clients across various sectors; ranging from start-ups to established companies, and creating design for large scale, mass participation art events.

Marie's current practice has seen a slight but significant shift over the past year exploring new technologies and methods for working. Marie's main focus is a 3D augmented reality archive of a large music equipment collection accessible through a physical publication.

Investigating alternative methods in how we capture, adapt and hold onto past memories and objects, Marie utilizes a left field manner of thinking with a sense of playfulness to highlight and question issues surrounding the objects we inherit through the loss of a loved one.
