Alan Sabir Amin

Alan Sabir Amin is an awards winning filmmaker, certainly a man of many talents, to list but a few he is a Director, Script writer, Actor, Director of Photography, Filmmaking Workshop Leader, Editor and Festival Coordinator.  He obtained a degree in theatre Directing and acting in Iraq beginning in 1989-1994 and then completed a national diploma in Film, media and television and a Filmmaking certificate at the London Film Academy and he gain MA Filmmaking at Manchester Metropolitan University. In 2005 Alan founded The Kurdish Creative Film Centre in Manchester. The company is dedicated to the provision and development of film and theatre skills within the refugee and asylum seeker communities. Thus offering them a voice whereby they may record their experiences and express their cultural identities. Whilst obtaining the necessary skills to find a creative and productive place in society. Alan has over 15 short films and documentaries to his name, many of which have gained festival acclaim, and his Documentary film “Finding My Legs” is now in the curclate film festivals around the ward with six Official selections and tow Awards, Alan Sabir Amin found Manchester Kurdish Film Festival and run for Seven years and run Five annual film Festivals.

A LONG WAY FROM HOME 

A former British soldier, traumatised by his experiences and trapped in his own head, struggles to come to terms with his past. 
a Gulf War veteran, is now living rough in the countryside. Traumatised by his experiences, haunted by painful memories and violent flashbacks, unable to come to terms either with his own past or to accept his current situation. It will take another violent confrontation before he can finally find his way home.
