Robin Sukatorn

MFA Illustration

I am a figurative artist and illustrator, drawing predominately with pencil and ink. My practice is centred around depicting people and events from the contemporary political, cultural and community life of the North of England. From excursions to explore, directly observe and sketch from various urban locations- such as Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Blackpool and York- I have developed a record of reportage drawings which document the scenes I have witnessed.

In February 2016 I was delighted to be awarded the John Ruskin Student Prize for a reportage drawing of Jeremy Corbyn speaking outside Manchester Cathedral. I have exhibited at the New Art Gallery Walsall and Trinity Buoy Wharf in London, and am part of a group of five postgraduate students who have set-up a micro gallery in Manchester, SLOE Gallery- an exciting new space to showcase our work and that of other emerging local artists in the future.
