“THE GEEK IN FORMAL WEAR”

My practice is based on the concept of hiding the subculture of geeks in formal wear. Where this particular study is based on Anime/Manga geeks. In order to understand and develop the Practice, studies on the following were done;

- The history and evolution of geeks and subculture to understand the person I am designing for;

- The fashion timeline of Western formal wear; and

- Semiotics, optical illusions and various styles of art to create the artwork for this concept.

The aim of this Practice is to create a collection of formal wear incorporated by the designs created without breaking the formal dress etiquette. Simultaneously making a fashion statement via bright colours, pleated fabric and graphical print design.
