George Sarell

MA Graphic Design and Art Direction

Throughout this course I have looked at the way we consume and digest information in this digital age. Utilising different materials, aesthetics and taking techniques out of their usual spaces, I have attempted to create works that forces the audience to approach the information held with a purposefully designed curiosity.

Recently, I have sought to recreate the book experience in a digital form, specifically the process of trawling through content to find the desired information and picking up additional knowledge by osmosis. My research revolved around the construction of a website, curiousiki.com, that alters the way we search for information by intercepting the way it is delivered, encouraging the user to allow the website to take the wheel and fall into a rabbit hole of content.

I have also applied this concept to design, allowing it to dictate certain elements to construct a framework and methodology to quickly produce content and briefs, with the theory behind the website bringing subtle threads connecting vastly different content to the forefront of the design.
