MA Design: Textile Practice

My interests lie in working with natural forms, found materials and on projects with an ecological message. On the MA I have worked for a variety of clients letting their briefs determine my output, including material choice.

Whilst working on Concrete River sculpture for Mersey Gateway Environmental Trust (MGET) I started to work with kiln formed glass, this has since become a central part of my practice. New to the material, I am at the start of my ‘glass journey’ and the possibilities it offers, especially combining it with other materials.

Concrete River- spacers inside the bridge construction serve as a metaphor for the hidden life that supports the ecosystem of the river.

Diatoms (microalgae)- There are approximately 300 diatoms in a water droplet, their magnified images inspired this glass piece for MGET.

Bottle curtain– recycled kiln formed bottles, concept for Manchester Life.

Community Art in a Box- for Manchester City Council, ‘Our Hulme’
