STUDENT designer Jennifer Shacklady is on her way to a career in fashion after creating the ultimate little white dress (LWD).

London Graduate Fashion Week and its sponsor River Island set the UK’s best fashion students the challenge to come up with a winning design for a LWD, as a twist on the LBD.

And Jennifer from MMU’s BA (Hons) Fashion course came second in the whole UK out of challengers from 48 fashion schools nationwide.

Judges Siobhan Mallen, senior fashion editor at Grazia Magazine, Farida Kaikobad, River Island’s buying director, and Naomi Dominique, River Island’s director for women’s design selected three favourites from the hundreds of entries received, including Jennifer’s stunning effort.

Style that sells

Farida Kaikobad said: "The judges loved Jennifer’s originality. Her designs really stood out as having just the right blend of unique style and commerciality, just what we were looking for."

Jennifer and coursemates from the outstanding MMU course will take place in the catwalk and other shows at Graduate Fashion Week in London from June 3-6.
