New Job Shop launched

MMU Cheshire students can shop for jobs at new website

Students at MMU Cheshire can now benefit from a fantastic online Job Shop, enabling them to search for part-time employment and full-time career opportunities from the comfort of their own computer!

The new website and online database has been developed by Graduates Onward (GO!), a European Social Fund funded project run by the Centre for Social Inclusion at MMU Cheshire, that aims to increase the employability of undergraduate students.

Increasing employability

Anish Kurien, Manager of GO!, says: “The online Job Shop project has been developed to help make MMU Cheshire graduates more employable. We hope the impact of the site will be three-fold - helping students find part-time jobs, which in turn makes them more employable after graduation, enhancing the service the Students’ Union at MMU Cheshire offers students and building relations with the local business communities in Crewe and Alsager.”

Easy to use

Kevin Atkinson, Site President of MMU Cheshire Students’ Union, comments: “This is a vital service for both our students and local employers and one that is very easy to use. Students just need to visit the website to see the range of jobs on offer and local businesses can simply register online, post their vacancies and pay the extremely reasonable rates offered to advertise using the secure online payment system.”

The South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry Manager Paul Colman said: “I’m sure the Job Shop will be a big success and we are delighted to be a part of this fantastic initiative. I am also extremely pleased that the Chamber’s members are able to receive a discount for advertising their vacancies here.”

GO! is currently in discussion with the MMU Students’ Union in Manchester regarding replicating the Job Shop service across the Manchester region.
