Students praise Marketing and Retail

Teaching is quality

UNDERGRADUATES in Marketing and Retail at MMU are among the most satisfied in the UK, according to the Government’s National Student Survey.

A poll of 187,000 UK students rated MMU as one of the best places in the country for Marketing, Retail and Public Relations courses.

90% of MMU undergraduates rated the quality of teaching on the courses excellent, 91% said staff had made the subject interesting and 89% said their course was ‘intellectually stimulating’.

Overall 93% were very satisfied with the Marketing suite of courses, considerably more than the national average of 81% satisfied with their university course.

Good academic support

The results place easily within the 25% of best courses in the UK, for which the benchmarks are 88% (teaching), 83% (subject interesting) and 89% (intellectually stimulating).

MMU also scored significantly better than the national average when students were quizzed about academic support, organisation and management and learning resources.

Head of Marketing and Retail at MMU Business School, Dr Ruth Ashford said: "The Marketing and Retail Division of the Business School has a set of excellent staff who have worked very hard to improve the student experience and make it as relevant to careers in the industry as possible. For instance the launch of a Student Chapter of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

"We are all very enthusiastic to ensure that we offer 'added value' to the programmes and curriculum, and help make our students more employable during and after their studies at MMU."
