Outfits by Rosie Riviere-Pring featured in Evans Spring & Summer collection
A Manchester School of Art graduate’s floral designs hit the high street this summer at Evans stores.
Rosie Riviere-Pring, a former BA (Hons) Fashion student, was named the winner of ‘The Cut’ for Evans design competition earlier this year.
The Cut was started as an initiative for Evans to change attitudes towards fashion and size and for us to invest and educate the next wave of British design talent.
Working with Manchester Metropolitan University, a panel of industry professionals selected the one winner whose designs were put into production and launched in selected stores as well as being available online.
Rosie said: “For the competition we were instructed to research different brands in the industry who catered for curvier women, to look at how the media looks at these women, at current fashionista's in the public eye and bloggers who looked outside the box for new and exciting outfits to show off their curves. We also had to look and decide on a muse who we believed celebrated their size.”
Rosie’s print heavy Spring/Summer collection is inspired by the concept of an Amish girl who decided to go travelling. Rosie added: “The prints show objects, fruit, plants, buildings and memorabilia from these travels. Once I found out I had won, I was whisked off to the Evans clothing design offices where the final touches were made with fabric choices and specific prints which were made into repeats.
“I was also invited to see the photoshoot once the outfits had been made up, with Style me Curvy's; Louise O' Reilly. This was a great opportunity to see what goes on in a professional photoshoot and to see my designs on a model.
“I feel really proud to have won! I have grown with confidence with my prints, as everyone seemed to like them. Also, through the competition, the university provided a really good opportunity for the students to showcase their work to potential employers.”
The collection includes a shift dress, high/low hem maxi, a printed cami, a cap sleeve tee and a full A-line skirt as well as a pantsuit all in Rosie’s signature prints.
