Manchester Metropolitan University has appointed two Deputy Vice-Chancellors to support Vice-Chancellor John Brooks' ambitious plans for the future.

Kevin Bonnett (pictured), Pro Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University takes up the post of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience from June 1.

Gerry Kelleher, who is Pro Vice-Chancellor at Liverpool John Moores University, will take the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Planning from August 1.

Kevin's background is in social science, particularly social theory and political economy. He has published on Thatcherism and co-authored a leading sociology textbook. Prior to joining Hallam he had a number of roles at what is now Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, including Associate Dean in Languages and Social Science.

He has previously been active in international social science circles, including a short
period at the European University Institute in Florence. He has served as a HEFCE Subject Reviewer and a QAA Institutional Auditor. He is currently Chair of Governors at a large inner-city comprehensive in Sheffield. Previously, he has served as a local council chairman and as parliamentary agent.

Gerry has been at LJMU since September 1993 when he joined the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences as Professor of Artificial Intelligence. He led the strategic development of research at LJMU before becoming Pro Vice-Chancellor with a wide-ranging portfolio for all aspects of student experience, research, development and enterprise.

Vice-Chancellor Professor John Brooks said: "These two posts will complete the Executive Team and will help to lead the University through this next exciting phase of development. We are very fortunate to have appointed two deputies who come with enormous experience of the sector and have a strong commitment to the values of MMU."
