Un-Follow - Foundation of Art and Creative Technology FACT

Exhibition, performance and film installation.

'Un-Follow' was a series of interactive performance events and a film installation commissioned by the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology - FACT in Liverpool for the exhibition Follow. The work re enacted a series of online motivational lectures within the film studio environment of FACT. This was a open access performative film work that positioned the viewer as 'performer' within an interactive, film installation piece.

The research through practice explored how we live online and how social, digital and new media influences 'on' and 'offline' personas?

The methodology comprised of an open access resource including a performance and film studio-space, autocue and editing studio in order to investigate how online culture and in particular social media informs identities.

This research conducted through a series of re enacted performances and subsequent film extracts explored;
• How methods of re-enactment ‘frame’ the spectator as part of the performance event expanding the function of the audience in order to complete the re-staging of the moment?
• How re-enactment can create a ‘historic juxtaposition', investigating how re-staging events within contemporary contexts can transpose the agency of the performance?
