Roses of Picardy

Roses of Picardy

A terracotta portrait of Major Cecil Wedgwood, displayed alongside a collection of historic artefacts: pianola roll, songsheet, songcards, cigarette cards and lead soldiers. In his final letter before he was killed in action on the Somme in 1916, Wedgwood wrote “when I get home I will do nothing and grow roses”.
