Dr Steve Henderson
Steve is co-owner and Editor of Skwigly Online Animation Magazine a resource producing written content, podcasts videos and reviews covering the entire scope of the industry interviewing practitioners and artists from the animation community and providing commentary and review.
He is also director of Manchester Animation Festival, the UKs largest animation festival. His role at the festival sees him curating events such as masterclasses, panel discussions, workshops as well as short and feature animation screenings bringing the international animation community to Manchester for three days of animation indulgence.
Animation exhibitions he has curated include Reanimating The Snowman, a walk through of the production material from the film and itís 2012 sequel with Arts University Bournemouth and Mackinnon and Saunders: Origins, an exhibition of photographic material from the model making studio which was exhibited at HOME Manchester.
His PhD thesis focussed on British Childrenís Television Animation and Animation Archives, an area which he has involvement and expertise in preserving, promoting and protecting. He has also hosted international animation screenings in association with the BFI Film Hub North West Central Called This Is Not a Cartoon and delivered film introductions and lectures on the history of British Animation at HOME. Working with Bloombsury he is currently writing a book on the animation industry and community.
