Hyatt, J., 2005.
HUMAN GENETICS AND SOCIETY
Output Type: | Other form of assessable output |
Brief Description/Editor(s): | Curation: Photographic exhibition from a public competition |
Venue: | NOWGEN Centre, Grafton st., Manchester |
Hyatt was chair of the judging panel for the competition and curator of the show of 18 selected works (see MIRIAD website, Innovation, Nowgen). The works were exhibited as "panes" in aluminium greenhouses, the original site of human's genetic experiments with plants.
Using the medium of photography, as an alternative to more traditional methods of gathering public opinion, the competition allowed people to express their opinions more freely. The aim was to attract a wide range of interpretations, in order to consider the issues from a variety of perspectives.
As part of the competition three ? [mju:]-mini digital cameras, kindly supplied by Olympus UK, were offered.
We received many entries from the North West of England, and also generated wider interest through our website receiving several international entries.
