An Artists unique book and cushion produced in response to the invitation to participate in the ‘Sitting Room’ Exhibition. A Special Nan is a documentary record of the details of a room lived in by an elderly widow in Manchester. The work seeks to explore identity through the recording of owned everyday and treasured possessions without portraying the person. The work is presented in the form of a photographic family album, which re-enforces the domestic narrative of the images. Additionally, a digitally printed scatter cushion, seeks playfully to refer to the relationships between domestic objects and space by mirroring out the album images into the ‘sitting room’ installation.

The work is photographed and included in the catalogue: Sitting Room, An exhibition of Artists Books, Righton Press, Manchester, 2006, ISBN 1 900756 34 x
