Karsten Huneck unveils installation at Wapping Wharf

Contemporary artist Karsten Huneck has revealed his eye-catching permanent installation in the ever developing Wapping Wharf area. The installation is located just off the harbourside at the bottom of Gaol Ferry Steps, the new pedestrianised link between south Bristol and the city centre.

The piece is made from energy efficient LED lights which shine through intricately cut victorian era style patterns formed from weathered steel.

The artwork is one of the first in a series commissioned by Ginkgo, on behalf of the developers of the area, Umberslade and Muse Developments.

Artist Karsten said: "We wanted to create an artwork that was integrated into the architecture of the site. The entrance and staircase help to create a new public space and the exposed column in the space reminded us of an old Victorian theatre."
