Manchester School of Art researchers join AHRC Peer Review College

Five researchers from across Manchester School of Art and Manchester School of Architecture have been appointed to the Arts and Humanities Research Council Peer Review College (AHRC PRC).
Members are selected from higher education institutions and independent research organisations in the United Kingdom and overseas, and from outside academia.
They take on a fundamental role in ensuring the highest quality research proposals receive funding. Members provide expert reviews on grant proposals across the range of the AHRC's schemes within their areas of expertise. The reviews inform panels and ultimately the research council’s decision-making processes.
This brings the total number of AHRC PRC members at Manchester Metropolitan to 31, with members from both the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and the Faculty of Education.
Professor Berthold Schoene, Faculty Head of Research and Knowledge Exchange said: “Many congratulations to the colleagues who have been invited to join the AHRC Peer Review College. Membership is not only an acknowledgement of our growing esteem and leadership status within the wider academic subject community, it is also a fantastic way to exercise academic citizenship and collegiality at a national level.”
Professor Farida Vis, Head of the Manchester School of Art Research Centre (MSARC) said: “It is wonderful to see so many Faculty and MSARC colleagues being successful. I am particularly excited about the range of expertise and diversity this group brings, which aligns with the AHRC’s stated EDI priority aims around diversifying its Peer Review College. These colleagues will make an important contribution to AHRC’s commitment to promoting the values of equality of opportunity, diversity, and inclusivity.”

The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) funds world-class, independent researchers across the entire range of Arts and Humanities subjects. This financial year the AHRC will spend approximately £98 million to fund research and postgraduate training, in collaboration with a number of partners. The quality and range of research supported by this investment of public funds not only provides social and cultural benefits and contributes to the economic success of the UK but also to the culture and welfare of societies around the globe.
