Puno Museum of Contemporary Art

Is a project that redefines the traditional concept of museum transforming it into a community-based institution both at administrative and infrastructure levels. It uses spaces in houses located in low income areas of the town of Puno-Peru, that are unfinished, proposing the owners to carry out construction works at no expense for them, with the condition that in exchange they allow the museum to exhibit art in the repaired spaces for a period of time, after which those spaces remain part of the houses benefiting them.
This project proposes that art can be a catalyst in the process of regenerating underprivileged urban areas of Puno and other cities of similar characteristics. It incorporates elements of economy, education, science, and urban planning among other disciplines.
