Simon Wainwright is Co-Artistic Director of imitating the dog. imitating the dog have been making ground-breaking work for theatres and other spaces for 20 years. As a company, they are interested in telling stories and their work fuses live performance with digital technology, in order to serve the story in the best possible way. They make work for touring to mid-scale theatres as well as studio productions and recent work has been based on adaptations of a classic novel or a film. During lockdown they were commissioned by Culture in Quarantine to make a live action graphic novel, Airlock, and have recently started touring a new piece. Dr Blood’s Old Travelling Show. Simon Wainwright is a co-founding member of the company, starting off in 1998 as a devisor and performer when the company was formed at Lancaster University. He now leads on all video design for the company. He is also a musician and is part of the band Hope & Social based in Leeds.
