Everything Starts From Something
Degree Show 2019
The identity for the 2019 Degree Show is currently being developed and we need your help.
Our theme this year is Everything Starts From Something. We want you to go back to the start of your creative journey. How did it all begin all those years ago? When you were a child who enjoyed making art.
Instead of focussing on simply showcasing the end result of the journey (which will be on display at the show itself), we wish to celebrate your first ever artistic or creative expressions.
The design will be based around your childhood work.
The things you made, that were first exhibited on the fridge door and have been in the loft for years, can now be the basis for your degree show’s identity.
What we need from you
We want your earliest works, they could be scribbles, sketches or painting – we know a lot of parents keep hold of these things and we’d love to incorporate them into the show’s identity.
The pieces of work are not expected to be finished masterpieces but are your earliest creative works so will likely just be shapes, mark making and very early school projects.
Next steps
If you’d like to be involved, please contact Nathan Cutler on n.cutler@mmu.ac.uk. Let us know what you have then we can sort out the details of how getting digital files and artwork.
Studio DBD
For the past few years, the identity for the show has been developed by an alumni of the School and this year we welcome Studio DBD who graduated in 2001. StudioDBD is the independent creative studio of Dave Sedgwick. Dave has worked for a number of clients such as the BBC Philharmonic, Warburtons, Thwaites, Skiddle and Foilco. As well as these larger clients, Dave works closely with a number of smaller startups, bars, cafes, restaurants and street food outlets across Manchester. In 2017 Dave won a D&AD award for his work on the Pilcrow Pub.
