SS Argentina

As part of the exhibit Friendship Forged in Fire; British Ceramics in America, ceramic artist Stephen Dixon will work with AMOCA visitors and volunteers to create a large-scale ceramic version of the SS Argentina, incorporating the stories and experiences of the G.I. brides, to celebrate this most special of 'special relationships'.
The SS Argentina (originally a passenger liner converted to a troop transport during World War 2) brought the first shipment of British GI Brides to the USA on Jan 26th 1946.
This event is one of 175 publically accessible events and exhibitions that took place in the UK and overseas throughout 2013 to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Manchester School of Art.
