An Image is an Act Not a Thing is a collaborative exploration of live performance and image-making for screen and projection, generated by students from across the programmes of Drama and Contemporary Performance, Filmmaking, Art Theory and Practice and Fine Art.

Facilitated by Jenny Baines and Brigid McLeer the project used the painting ‘Children’s Games’ by Pieter Breugel The Elder (1560) to initiate a collection of live and recorded responses to the performative potential of the image.

Presented as part the 2024 Future Flares Festival
