An Image is an Act Not a Thing

An Image is an Act Not a Thing is a collaborative exploration of live performance and image-making for screen and projection, generated by staff, alumni and students from across the programmes of Fine Art,  Art Theory and Practice, Filmmaking, and Drama and Contemporary Performance. 

A first iteration of the project was shown at Future Flares 2024. This new iteration welcomes back participants Jennifer Holly Huck, Grace Evelyn Marshall, Henry Wade and Isla Webster from the 2024 showing to work with current students to further explore the potential of this cross-disciplinary approach to performance and the image. 

Student participants for 2026 are Sarah Gannouchkine, Delia Gavajuc, Siena Giomarelli, Robert Gosling, Jennifer Quinn Huck, Paulina Kurzydlowska, William Matthews, Maia San Miguel, Massimo Stirpe, Sofia Viride. 

The project was initiated by Jenny Baines and Brigid McLeer whose art practices and research engage with these approaches.
