Filmmaking students also triumph at Cornerhouse 'exposures'
FILMMAKING graduates Lucy Campbell and Honey Crespo have won Royal Television Society Student Awards.
Lucy Campbell’s film ‘The Surface of Impenetrable Things’ won the Best Fiction award, while Honey Crespo’s ‘Scars You Can’t See’ won the Best Documentary award at the RTS Awards hosted by Granada Television.
As regional winners of their categories, Honey and Lucy will be travelling to London for the National finals later this year.
At Exposures the UK’s leading student film festival, the MMU BA Filmmaking course picked up three awards.
‘Alice in Space’, directed by Mike Scott with sound design by Chris Fisher, current 3rd years on the course, won the Best Experimental Film award, while recent graduate Tom Stewart’s drama ‘When the Dust Settles’ won two awards: the Best of the North and Best Cinematography, which was awarded to the film’s DoP, fellow recent graduate Tom Doran.
Honey Crespo’s documentary ‘Scars You Can’t See’ was nominated in the Best Documentary and Best Director category.
The awards were announced last night at Exposures’ ‘Best of the Fest’ ceremony, which took place at Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry.
