Reflecting on Researcher Dilemmas in the Delivery of Strategies for Research in Architectural Practice

The seminar paper reflects on the approaches adopted by researchers delivering a practice-based research programme within Metropolitan Workshop, and architecture and urbanism practice with studios in London and Dublin. Informed by the practice's social and commercial interests, projects included A New Kind of Suburbia and People Powered Places, which responded to the needs of an expanding portfolio of suburban housing and town extensions, and highlighting the requirement for architects to engage more meaningfully with community participation in planning and housing design.
