Die Vermesserin -erster Entwurf (German/English) is an artist publication, written during the Alps Art Academy, Safiental, 2022. Micro observations of alpine life in times of climate change are intersected with reflections intergenerational trauma (WW2 and Cold war) in the eye of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The artist Brigitte Jurack, a native of Düsseldorf, has been living and
working in Great Britain for more than thirty years. After spending several
weeks in German-speaking countries in summer 2022, she published the
bilingual Die Vermesserin (the female surveyor). In September 2024 whilst on
an international artists' residency in Pedvale, Latvia, she wrote the second
draft of Die Vermesserin in her native language, German.
The second draft is published in two separate volumes, German and English (The female surveyor (second draft).
