The Best Things in Life Are Free was presented as a solo booth at The Manchester Contemporary, bringing together paintings of dance marathons and ceramic works that extend the painted narrative into the physical space. The presentation centred on the titular painting, drawing on They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969) and Alexander McQueen's Deliverance (2004). Its figures appear within a setting that initially reads as a nightclub or theatre stage, but is revealed to be the interior of an oven. Across the booth, painted scenes and objects move between fiction and reality, reflecting on how images are constructed, staged and experienced beyond the frame.
