Morfill, S. and Cavic, A, 2008.

in them fighting a seed terrible. it sows

Output Type:Exhibition
Venue:Five Years, London
Dates:September 2008
Number of Works:1

This project with Ana Cavic explored a version of collaboration culminating in the construction of a 2-screen animation. Having jointly created an ‘instructional map’ that defined the ‘action’ this physical document was literally cut in half, each artist responding to their respective portion using digital animation processes. Aesthetic choices were autonomous, in my case I emphasised the relationship between the stitch as it exists within a grid (or simple plain woven cloth) and the pixel. The aim was to produce a time-based piece where the synchronised halves created a whole.
The installation at Five Years incorporated further elements: left overs and proposed futures.
As a result of the show we were subsequently invited to show the animation as part of an exhibition of 15 international artists, Devenir l’Écran at Espace Lucie Aubrac in Le Vigan, France in December 2008.
