Trying to close the loop: post-war ring roads in Manchester

The paper shows how planning processes leave their residue and inform the physical development of cities. Using predominantly graphic material from original archive sources this paper was designed to permit understanding of the fifty-nine year project (1945-2004) to create a ring-road around the city-centre and the physical results in urban form and in architectural production associated with this extrapolated process.
