The Lecturer's Perspective

The focus of the workshop was the architectural interpretation of sites of archaeological interest, and the design of innovative architectural proposals that provided protective coverings for the delicate and sensitive archaeological excavations. The sites this year were in the hot and dusty island of Sicily and these precious areas of great archaeological relevance were required to be open and accessible and yet the delicate remains also need to be protected from both the weather and the demands of the twenty-first century visitor.
