Introduction

Open a book, flip through the opening pages, arrive on the Introduction page. Here you are, following marks on paper or a screen with your eyes, your brain firing up connections to conjure an image of yourself, reading. Now you see yourself in a mirror of your mind. A connection is formed, as I type these words on a train moving through the misty Hope Valley between Sheffield and Manchester and I am thinking of you, the reader. In just a few sentences, two images appeared: of yourself, the reader, and a train moving through the mist, with the author onboard, typing. We are in different spaces and timelines, yet connected.
