Future Encounters
BA Interior Design
Unit X: Future Encounters, invites first year Interior Design students to work in both local and global collaborations to explore how design can shape real-world experiences, exploring how future gallery spaces might inspire deeper connection, reflection, and interaction.
Partnering with The Whitworth Art Gallery and using principles of future thinking, design thinking and creative storytelling, students investigate how the gallery could encourage more meaningful interaction between visitors and their surroundings. – considering not only the building itself but also its unique relationship with Whitworth Park – recognising that place, landscape, and movement are just as important as interior spaces.
Guided by one of four lenses: Shared Ground, Stewardship, Untold Stories, or Changing the Rules, they explore how interiors can shape the way people feel, move, and connect at the Whitworth in the year 2030.
