Pop up exhibition project at SEESAW
29 April 2025
The exhibition project "Ecological Borders" is co-curated by the current MA Contemporary Curating students by Beatrice Jane Penny and Charlotte Furlong
The Ecological Borders exhibition is a curatorial project of Charlotte Furlong and Beatrice Jane Penny which explores the merging of natural environments and the borders of the body, presenting human development as a journey of reflective understanding. It considers how contemporary society, particularly through systems like capitalism and social media, restricts personal and creative growth, making a return to nature necessary. The exhibition examines how bodies serve as borders to the ecological environment, with artists responding to this relationship as a vital connection that propels human development forward. By showcasing artists who work with and respond to biological materials, the exhibition delves into the concept of ecological borders and how these themes are being explored in the context of today’s societal issues.
