The /meta-matter / shapelessness. A presentation of speculative storytelling as an opportunity to ‘imagine’, re-imagine, to explore and invite, a visual exploration of design methodology. Shapelessness, as an overarching editorial and practice-based project about finding meaning through form, exploring the physicality of narrative through the ‘image-object’ (Rouille, 1993), through an embodiment of meaning, a ‘shaping’ of ideologies and encounters. Shapelessness refers to a process of ‘finding’ of ‘re-shaping’ and ‘re-forming’ explored through re-discovery, remembering, making, collecting, and connecting. As a speculative ‘textile’ journal it references the breadth of Textiles as a discipline, the interconnectedness of interdisciplinary thought and process-based methodologies, however as a medium it offers an editorial space which exists in-between, as a textile itself, perhaps as a physical interpretation of the meta-matter. The ‘meta-matter’ identifies an era of heightened physical consciousness which constantly pursues the redefinition of our relationship with the material and natural world, exploring the fragility of our existence.
