Futurescan 6: Shifting Paradigms 'Mono-Material Woven Footwear Uppers: Interdisciplinary Collaborations in Response to the Climate Emergency', 2025

Presentation and exhibition of the woven mono-material footwear project illustrating the potential of mono-material design to redefine the designer’s agency within sustainable practice. The presentation also reflected on the significance of practice-led textile research conducted beyond traditional textile settings, highlighting how interdisciplinary collaboration supports new knowledge through sharing of craft-specific expertise and gives rise to novel forms of communication through use of boundary objects. By leveraging craft-specific expertise across disciplines, the work demonstrates new applications for textile knowledge while raising awareness of its value.
