Creative festival exploring the science of imagination
Design Manchester returns for its second year with an extended run across ten days, celebrating creativity, collaboration and inclusivity in the worlds of art, design, illustration, film, animation and photography.
Sponsored by Manchester School of Art, Design Manchester 14 is partnered with Manchester Science Festival in a creative merger, which explores the science of imagination. The event incorporates inspirational talks and debates, interactive workshops and stimulating exhibitions held at various venues across the city.
Core Festival Day - Friday 24 October
Design Manchester 14 Conference - Friday 24 October - is the core festival day, held once again at Manchester Town Hall and hosted by Manchester School of Art’s David Crow, festival ambassador Malcolm Garrett RDI and Design Week editor Angus Montgomery, with former creative director to Manchester City Council, Peter Saville RDI. The Conference will feature renowned names from the UK and beyond.
Other Highlights
In addition to the Core Festival Day, there are 18 events across the city hosted in some of Manchester’s most iconic buildings.
Highlights of the festival include the adidas SPEZIAL exhibition, an evening with creative publishers Unit Editions, The Dress of Glass and Flame by Helen Storey MBE, supported by Royal Society of Chemistry (also part of the Manchester Science Festival), Design Council’s Take 5 with Ben Casey and many more.
