Students stage show in derelict sweatshop

INTERACTIVE arts students have created their own city centre art gallery in the Northern Quarter.

Organisers of the Owl Project art exhibition swooped on an empty old Manchester sweatshop as a boho venue for their visual art.

The mixed-media show features video, animation, sculpture and installation pieces and is open until June 4 at the no-fixed-address venue at Stephenson Square.

A centre-piece and inspiration for the show's name is work by Dan Staincliffe which projects a 3-D owl flying away when visitors open the door.

A post apocalyptic picnic is facination too and another student Rob Dunne actually shares his show with his mother!

The free event is staged by second-year students on the highly-acclaimed MMU course.

Open: Saturday 10-4, Sunday 11-3 and Monday 10-4.
