UK students have yet again voted Manchester the place to study!

Some 34,000 students gave 81 university locations marks out of 10 on topics such as going out, shops, community, transport and facilities.

Manchester came out joint second with Brighton and Exeter, with the surprise leader being Aberystwyth in Wales.

Manchester, the 'capital of the North', was also rated for its sporting, cultural and commercial assets, plus the potential for getting a job in the region after graduating.

68% of MMU students stay and work in the area after finishing their degree!

Simon Thompson, director of the survey compiler accommodationforstudents.com, himself an MMU graduate, said: "This survey represents students' real opinions about where they study.

"It is helpful for students going to uni for the first time, and for students looking to move as it provides a breakdown of the best areas within towns and cities."
