THE FALMOUTH SCHOOL OF ART LECTURES: MACK MANNING
Mack Manning is an artist working across a range of media including drawing, painting, photography, and creative writing. With a first degree in Fine Art he studied Design at the Royal College of Art, specialising in ecological drawing, print and poster design. Describing the focus of his work he has said, “I am interested in how Drawing and Poetry can express our mythical and personal relationship with Landscape and habitat and how we attach a strong identity with the spaces and places we pass through and inhabit”.
Manning is an experienced book cover Illustrator for Penguin Books, Pan Macmillan and Random House in London - and magazines like the Sunday Times, the Observer and Sunday Telegraph. His professional design and art work has also included commissions from a range of such organisations as Friends Of the Earth, The United Nations, The Independent and the BBC. His drawings were shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2007/8.
He has lectured at numerous institutions nationally and internationally, including Cambridge School of Art and Emily Carr, Vancouver. He is currently Programme Leader for Creative Practice at Manchester School of Art and External Examiner for the BA (Hons) Illustration course at Camberwell School of Art and for Birmingham City University¹s Interdisciplinary BA(Hons)Art & Design.
