Hyatt advised Arup on the Interior design of their offices. He worked with architect John Lee of Arca on the spatial design of the office. Hyatt produced advisory documents on lighting, the gallery and the foyer spaces. He also produced printed net hangings (6) for the windows. Carpet-Map is considered as part of Hyatt's Public Art research and was a commission from Arup for Hyatt to design and supply a carpet for their Manchester office foyer. It is a conceptual piece - the design is abstracted from a plan of the office, therefore, where your body stands as it enters the office is the same place as where it stands on the carpet/map. Your body occupies real space and stands within a set of mediated representations simultaneously. Designed on Photoshop, hand-fabricated in Dewsbury, the carpet employs 12 colours of selected wool.
