Digital Artwork Workshop

Join us for a practical and tech-based workshop with Artist Sophie Mahon. We will be exploring new ways of making and looking at art using unusual materials, processes and technology including drawing, sound, video and sculpture. The workshops will combine open source digital processes with messy, hands on making, exploring the theme of change and transformation. What happens when a drawing becomes sound and how does a video become a sculpture?

Manchester based Artist Sophie Mahon will run a two day workshop program combining new digital processes with traditional hands on making. Over the course of two days we will use a range of free open source software to explore new ways of making and transforming art, covering skills such as video projection mapping and sound based data bending.

The series of workshops will include aspects of filmmaking, abstract drawing and sculpture, exploring the theme of change and transformation. How might a drawing become a sound and what happens when a video becomes a sculpture?

The Artists own practice is based on social engagement and participation with a portfolio which includes producing work for the Whitworth, Tate Modern, Grundy Art Gallery and Nottingham Contemporary as well as work for the public realm and live events.

Participants are welcome attend both or either of the days and no prior experience is required.

This workshop is for adults only. We also run Summer Schools for Young People.
